The current injury of the forward of Golden State Warriors is a deep gluteal muscle contusion that he received during the second game of the first round against the Houston Rockets. The injury happened during the match when Butler landed awkwardly as he was undercut by Rockets rookie Amen Thompson while going for a rebound. While some positivity was expressed, Butler was unable to play in game 3 due to inflammation and lack of range of motion .
Jimmy Butler Injury Update
An MRI showed that there was a contusion but no abnormalities in the structures present. The medical staff has listed Butlers status as day-to-day and his availability for game 4 on Monday in San Francisco still unknown. Head coach Steve Kerr was more hopeful and positive but also said, “There is a possibility that he plays,” but he will have to see how his body will be treated .
When Butler left the game, Jonathan Kuminga came from the bench to give a good game, scoring 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in 26 minutes. Kuminga has a good history against the Rockets, scoring an average of 21.3 points per game in four regular-season games.
The Warriors need to win this game to make it to the playoffs and they need to do it while the Denver Nuggets lose to the Phoenix Suns. However, the Nuggets have said that several starters, including mvp contender Nikola Jokic, will sit out due to rest which could pose a problem to the waracle golden state playoffs.
Nevertheless, Butler has not shown any signs of weakness or sluggishness throughout the season due to the injuries. When he came back from a knee injury in December 2024 he completed 72.3% of his passes, threw 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. His display between week 12 and 14 was most impressive where he was throwing for 338 yards per game with 8 touchdowns and no interceptions.
With Warriors facing a crucial game, Butler is still the main focus of attention regarding his ability to return to the game.
